This is a Stealy.

Stealys are bad guys. For the past two months I’ve been attempting to commit to illustration, the characters from Colby Pennington’s book in the making “Road o Anjilove”. It’s Colby’s first attempt at getting any kind of writing published and I’ve never really attempted any type of illustration on this scale, so we have a lot of work ahead of us. Anyone know any good literary agents?

Right now… How about that.

Rebecca and I have a very serious problem growing in our lives. For a reason unknown to us, Swigart, our cat, has picked up a terrible habit of waking us up EVERY SINGLE MORNING with obnoxious and quickly paced meowing starting promptly at 6:00am. This consistently cuts an hour out of our nights rest, making me progressively grumpier, and is quickly dwindling the love I have for the cat. I’ve actually been having reoccurring dreams of killing the problem tabby and serving him for dinner, and another of kicking him out of the house and giving him to orphans. I’m pretty sure that these dreams usually occur in-between meows. He’s not hungry; we feed him at night so by the morning he still has food and water, but we speculate that he’s bored from sleeping most of the afternoon and night and by 6:00 he just can’t take the quiet any longer. He now gets sprayed from water bottles, with streams coming from each side of our bed if he’s caught meowing too early. But he’s starting to wise up and move the annoyance operation around the corner in the living room. Any suggestions on stopping the thing?

HELLO! It’s been a while. I’ve decided to come back now that life is finally starting to calm down a bit after the post-marriage-out-of-money-stressoutapalooza. I hope everyone that I know is well and I apologize to anyone who reads this things for not keeping in touch as I should, neglecting friendships is a terrible character flaw that I am aware of and am attempting to destroy.

Since the last time I posted much has happened. I’ve started illustrating a children’s novel (in the process of being written by Rebecca’s older brother Colby Pennington), built a fire in the woods with Reba, tried to construct a spacesuit out of emergency blankets and a chicken rotisserie machine (when constructing a space suit don’t use the emergency blankets; it seems like a good idea but it just won’t work) I was gifted a Kinky Friedman brand cigar from the Head of the Kinky Friedman for governor campaign a.k.a “Little Jewford”, interviewed for a job that I would not get at Whole Foods corporate, helped Derek Price get married (!), played multiple rounds of laser tag, drove through ‘Devil’s Backbone’, attended an actual Sausage festival, pulled all of the weeds and dead bushes out of my backyard, and finished writing what is now one of my most favorite Foxhole songs… BAM! Now you’re caught up.

I hope to start posting more and use this blog and an avenue to keep up with friends, post illustrations that I’m working on, show my family pictures of our daily goings on, and help motivate myself to keep up with design and music so that I can pass things along that inspire me to you.

I’ll start with this: A little over a year ago I was collecting more old books, magazine and antiques with Rebecca than I ever had before. I had been amassing a pretty generous amount of bizarre ads illustrations and stories mainly from old magazines that we would find and I wanted to start a blog where I’d post strange and ‘funny’ things that I would find everyweek. After I determined that this idea was kind of a… ‘stupid’ idea, I decided to just start this more general blog.

But I’ll give you this image below. This is actually the piece that originally motivated me to start a blog. It’s from a Seventeen magazine from the 1940’s. Sorry if this is in poor taste.

Obama got 100 days, we got 11. But we’ve probably spent as much as he has.

The wedding was wonderful. Thanks so much to everyone who came out and enjoyed the day with us. We’ve been honeymoon’n in Oregon and Washington, and with the 60 degree weather, mountain views, oceanside drives, good coffee and a nice bride it has been oh so wonderful.

I think I’m going to post some pictures from the wedding and the there-after soon after we get back, but for now I just have this photo. Bac Nghi To-Trong, Hailey Hardin, Kyle Brown, Greg Leppert and Jessica Cain (incredible photographers) all took tons of photos at the wedding, so everything is sure to be just stunning.

4 Days until I get married to Rebecca Pennington.

I’m sitting in a coffee shop and was just getting really excited that foxhole was playing over sound system. After foxhole finished a techno song I wrote started playing!… Because whoever is working is apparently streaming my itunes.

I just heard this out of context quote from an old man on a cell phone at CherryWood Coffee Shop in East Austin, Texas, USA, Earth, Solar System, in the Milky Way Galaxy:

“What ever happens he should always remember that It wasn’t the church, and it wasn’t the psychic, and it was the lawyer that saved his life…. it was you……….mom.”
